Bunion!

First of all, Happy New Year everybody! Things have been pretty awesome with me. I'm having a fabulous time here in new york and everything is amazing.

i'm not sure how many of you know this, but i've decided to run a marathon! i decided this at the end of the summer and as soon as i moved to new york i started seriously running. well, this serious running led to serious foot pain. so, like most other pain in my life i decided to just suck it up and hope it would go away. so i bought those dr. scholl's gel inserts, and while they did feel really cool, they didn't take the pain away. because of global warming it was crazy warm here in october. i remember the day like it was yesterday. i was wearing sandals on this balmy fall day and while i was riding the subway i was reading the ads. i noticed an ad for a foot doctor and saw that the foot in the ad looked like mine. so i looked at the ad, looked at my foot, looked at the ad again and came to the realization that i have a bunion. of course no one believed me. this was like the time when i was in high school and came downstairs with my eye crusted shut and itchy like crazy saying that i had pink eye and my mom was like "No you don't, go to school."

so there was a health fair at my office and i made an appointment with a podiatrist. lo and behold, i was right, i do have a bunion! and i'm flat-footed. i was feeling guilty about wearing high heels and giving myself a bunion but apparently the problem all started with my being born with flat feet. the reason i got a bunion is from running. i have an athletic injury! and it required surgery! so now after everything i've been through, i really do have to run the marathon to make everything worth it.

so i had surgery on friday and i've just been hanging out in my apartment since. and it sucks. it hurts to walk so i got a cane which actually helps. my butt hurts from sitting and i'm starting to get nauseous. i have five pounds of bandages on my foot and everytime i get up i swear i can feel bones moving.

has anyone been watching american idol? it's not as good this year as years past. having been out of the country for last year's i can't compare it, but this year definitely isn't as good as 2006. hello? soul patrol!
